Welcome Message

On behalf of Organizing Committee of the VII International Summer School on Fault Diagnosis of Complex Systems, we welcome the participants of the school to be held in Terrassa on July 3-7, 2017. The school is organized by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and its Research Center for Supervision, Safety and Automatic Control (CS2AC). It is promoted by the Spanish Research Network on Fault Diagnosis and supported by the University of Valladolid (UVA), the University of Girona (UdG) and the University of Seville (US).

Following the great success of and acceptance by the international community of iagnostics of the previous editions, the International Summer School on Fault Diagnosis of Complex Systems is organized every two years in a different Spanish University. Previous editions demonstrated the demand for establishing a continuous scientific forum in the general field of system monitoring and fault diagnosis.

The safe and reliable operation of technical systems is of great significance for the protection of human life and health as well as the environment, and of a vested economic value for supporting decision making or emergency actions and repairs. Moreover, in highly automated industrial systems where maintenance or repair cannot be carried out immediately, it is crucial to employ fault-tolerant control systems capable of ensuring acceptable performance even in the presence of faults.

The program of this edition includes 4 invited professors plus the regular staff professors of tehe scool.  We hope that those talks will give the participants the opportunity to share in the knowledge and experience of world-renowned scientists and experts in fault diagnosis.

We also hope that you will find your participation in this school very stimulating and rewarding. Moreover, we believe that a few days’ stay in Terrassa,  Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia will give you an opportunity to enjoy and to learn more about the city and the region.

We would like to thank all members of the Organization for their excellent work in ensuring a high quality of the school program. Special thanks go to members of the Local Organizing Committee for their hard work that made it possible to organize this international scientific event.

We wish all participants to enjoy the VII International Summer School on Fault Diagnosis of Complex Systems and a pleasant stay in Terrassa.
